The JASON Project
Lighting the spark of inspiration through sustained connections with "great explorers and
great events" in core curriculum is what JASON is all about. Developed by a host of researchers
from National Geographic, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), JASON’s comprehensive program is designed
to create highly qualified science teachers by increasing their knowledge of core science
content and pedagogy, and preparing them to use JASON curriculum in their classrooms.
Throughout the year, JASON offers accredited, online graduate courses and onsite or online
curriculum training. Glenville State College will be offering graduate credit for five of
the online graduate courses offered through the JASON Project and National Geographic.
Glenville will offer 3 hours of graduate college credit for:
Principles of Ecology
Earth in the Solar System
Transfer of Energy
Chemistry through Inquiry
Practical Meteorology
Students will register for JASON online graduate courses directly through JASON at
http://www.jason.org/public/home.aspx and will be linked to Glenville State College to
register for graduate credit. Students will pay $225 to JASON to register for the online
course and then will pay GSC $225 for the associated graduate credit for the online course.
