Mission Statement
The Division of Business of Glenville State College
is committed to educating students to be thoughtful,
productive, engaged, and responsible citizens. The
baccalaureate computer and information systems program
will supply the workforce with individuals who can
apply technology information processing skills to
the betterment of the business world and society.
Goals
- Students will be able to enter the workforce as
entry-level programmers, information specialists,
or database administrators.
- Students will be able to work independently as
consultants for various business and governmental
organizations.
- Students will be able to enroll in an MBA program
with a concentration in information technology or
another business area.
- Students will be able to pursue certification
in specialized areas of information technology such
as network administration (Novell or Windows 2000
Server).
Objectives
- Students will be able to analyze basic accounting
transactions.
- Students will be able to perform quantitative
business calculations.
- Students will be able to apply technology terms
to a Windows-based operating environment.
- Students will be able to apply business communication
principles to communication situations in business
practice.
- Students will be able to classify basic principles
of management theory.
- Students will be able to apply marketing concepts
to basic business scenarios.
- Students will be able to write computer code
in Visual Basic.
- Students will be able to write computer code
in C language.
- Students will be able to apply web design and
development principles.
- Students will apply the principles of systems
analysis and design.
General goals for Glenville State College’s
